Lord Ganesha, the God of removing obstacles and bestowing knowledge and learning is one of the most worshipped Hindu gods all over the world. He is also called Siddhivinayak as, it is so believed that he will fulfil all wishes and will grant you with loads of knowledge.

There is a lot of significance of Siddhivinayak temple. It is said that it is very difficult to please this form of Ganesha. The trunk of this deity is turned in the right side and this is one of the most popular forms of Ganapati. This is a Swambhu (not made by man) form of Ganesha. The main idol is kept in a brass frame. It is about three feet tall and 2.5 feet wide. The idol also has his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi sitting on his laps and its stomach is not too wide as compared to the other Ganesha idols. The temple faces north.

The trunk of Lord Ganesha in this form is towards the right side. The iDa naaDii is on the left side, while the pingalaa naaDii is on the right. The right turning nadi is the sun and will burn one if rules are violated. When the trunk is facing straight forward, then it signifies the sushumna is entirely open. Idols such as these are very rare and special. Even more special is the trunk where the trunk is swung up right in the air. It means the kundalini shakti has reached the sahasra permanently.

Siddhivinayak Temple is one amongst the most crowded and most revered temples of India. The establishment of this temple dates back to early nineteenth century. The temple has a small mandap (hall) with the shrine for Siddhi Vinayak ("Ganesh that grants your wish. Ganpati is shown with four arms holding a lotus flower, an axe, plate of modakas and a garland of beads, in each of his hands respectively. The two consorts of the Lord, Riddhi and Siddhi, adorn the site being placed on the either side of Ganesha.

The wooden doors to the sanctum are carved with images of the Ashtavinayak (the eight manifestations of Ganesh in Maharashtra). The inner roof of the sanctum is plated with gold, and the central statue is of Ganesh. In the periphery of the temple, there is a Hanuman temple as well.

Siddhivinayak Ganesha holds a very important position. It is believed that any new work, new place or new possession will prosper if one prays to the lord before starting or using it. This is one of the main reasons why renowned people regularly visit the temple.
